2010 Auchroisk Distillery, 9 year-old, 61%

[New Arrival]

Auchroisk roughly translates from Gaelic as “shallow ford across the red river” This refers to the proximity of the distillery to the Mulben Burn, although it is the quality of water drawn from Dorie’s Well that is said to have decided the location of Auchroisk prior to construction in 1972.

There is a sweet fruitiness to the nose, with notes of red apple skin and custard cut by hints of paprika. The palate is thick and generous with spice returning to add an enlivening and unusual kick to the fruit and rosewater elements. Its lingering and complex to the last.
